Our Story & Mission

My name is Robert Benford, and I founded Passport Outfitters because I believe the best part of any journey is the story you bring home. Founded in Baltimore and inspired by a lifetime of global exploration—from the vibrant markets of Asia and South America to the hidden gems of the Caribbean and beyond—we set out to create the apparel and curated travel gear we always wished we had on the road.

Our collection is built to outfit the modern explorer with gear and streetwear that speak to where you've been and where you're going next. But Passport Outfitters was never meant to be a solo journey.

Carrying the Vision Forward

This store began as a shared dream between myself and my cousin—united by our passion for exploration, culture, and streetwear design. Together, we mapped out the identity of Passport Outfitters, sketching ideas late into the night.

Tragically, I lost my cousin and co-founder far too soon at the age of 34.

Though he is no longer physically here to watch this brand grow, his creative spirit remains the foundation of everything we build. Scattered across my desk are his original notebooks, raw design sketches, color palettes, and finished artwork.

The Founder’s Vault is our dedicated tribute to his legacy. Every graphic and layout within this collection originated from his mind and pencil. By bringing his rough drafts to life and sharing his finished designs with the world, we ensure that his passion, vision, and artistic story continue to travel to every corner of the globe.
